Governance

Zimtor Elementary School is operated by Zimtor Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The corporation is administered by a three-member, self-perpetuating board which is responsible for broad policy decisions. Day-to-day operating decisions are the responsibility of the school director.

Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore about 1900. In 1901, Tagore established a progressive elementary school called Santiniketan at his estate of the same name in northeastern India. The school is still in operation today and has expanded to include grades through high school and a university. Although little known outside of India, Santiniketan stands as an exemplary model of successful progressive education.
